Italy was beautiful and a photographer's delight. It looks so beautiful in color, but there is a lot to appreciate in black and white as well.

Chris and I made a silly game of taking our pictures in front of various sites on our trip. In case you don't want to dive into my lengthy trip log, here are the highlights:

As much as we loved our travels, it is always good to come home, especially if you are bearing gifts. We brought Mom a lovely ceramic bowl with hand painted lemons from Capri. Rowan received a 3D ABC book and a Pinoccio puppet, while Davin received his extra long bus (which he has played with every day since) and a tapestry with all of the Italian soccer teams on an Italian map. Chris brought home ties and I found a beautiful scarf, some earrings, and a salad plate similar to Mom's bowl. We also found a recipe book/ food history book about Roman cuisine (in Italian, so it will be good practice for me to read it). We were so excited to see our boys again. I think we all missed each other, but going away can produce that lovely result. (As my dad says, "how can I miss you if you never leave?") Eat your pizza with a knife and fork the way the Romans do As if we weren't messed up already, we had to go through daylight savings time yet again on Sunday morning, our last day in Rome. We were a little lazy and didn't head out too quickly, and we opted for pizza for breakfast. I'm sure that after Michelangelo's Sistine, it was hard to top that effort, but Andrea Pazzo made a pretty good effort with his mural on the ceiling of the San Ignazio nave. Stare at his Baroque illusions for a minute and they start to pop out of the painting. When you first walk into the building, you notice several domes in the ceiling as well, but not all the domes are alike.
