My turn!

This afternoon, we were enjoying a lovely fall moment in the backyard. I brought out Davin’s tricycle and a push toy for Rowan. Rowan knew immediately that there was a difference between the toys and he wasn’t about to settle. He made it known that it was Davin’s trike he was interested in, not the baby push toy. Davin protested, but he was a good big brother and shared with Rowan, who happily sat on the trike and pushed it around the driveway and into the grass. Rowan is so aware of everything Davin does and I know he can’t wait until he can run with him.

Yummy dinner

I made the most disguisting dinner the other night. It was a reduction sauce perfectly seasoned to go with broccoli and pasta. The sauce was coming along just fine until the last minute when something went wrong. Instead of a creamy, smooth sauce, it turned into a massive lump of chewy cheese. Yummmm-ie! Chris groaned when he saw it, but it was late and there was nothing else to serve. Ironically, the boys thought it was just fine and didn’t hesitate to eat it. Who knew? I think I saved my reputation in the kitchen by making a popcorn treat that we delivered to neighbors. Apparently I can’t make dinner but it’s okay as long as I can make dessert.

October Surprise, First Leaves

At the corner of our yard, an unknown bush remained in the background until this month when it burst into pink blossoms. I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of our double flowered Camellia. At the same time, our leaves are starting to change. We don’t have many leaves yet, but here are a few to start.

Paying homage to the Mouse

My sweet uncle recently invited us to join him and his family on a trip to Disney World in Orlando, FL. Enticed by the opportunity to see family, we headed south for a week of fun-filled adventure. Unfortunately a little virus came along as a stow away. Rowan started off the week with a fever, Davin soon followed with a runny nose and cough, and I had a sore throat by the middle of the week. Despite the humid heat, crowds, and poor health, the boys had a great time especially because they were able to spend a lot of time with their grandparents. I think that the crankiest mousketeer award should be given to me; I probably had more break-downs than my three year old. Overall we had a great time, a memorable time. There is something truly unique about Disney and the magic they create. As we walked into Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, a fifty-something woman smartly dressed in sporty attire starting flitting around like Sleeping Beauty in the woods to a tune playing on the loud speakers...

Tagged!

Wow! I never get tagged! :) My friend Sara tagged me to do the following: "go into your picture file, choose the 4th file, open it, choose the 4th picture, post it and explain it, tag 4 people." Here's my picture: This cool guy is Jamison Bell. He belongs to Laura and Jason Bell. I love the Bells and it was a sweet honor to take family pictures for them one day. Not only is their family lovely to look at, it was easy to capture the love that they share. Jamison is nearly Davin's age and he is a fun little buddy. Davin talks about him and misses seeing him. Jamison is the sweetest little guy. He is a big kid and can make his presence known, but there is a gentle tenderness in his personality that can best be witnessed when he interacts with his mom. I love watching the two of them interract and I have learned a lot from their relationship. I am going to tag the following: Laura B. Maile C. Camie R. Mandy C.

Do you have gas?

In some company, this question might seem preposterous or even rude. It might make someone blush or politely hide their nose behind a perfumed wrist. A more juvenile group might think it is hilarious, a question that can't be completed without goofy snickers. Some might even be relieved to say that they don't have gas, at least not anymore. At the moment, I would like to say that I do have gas but unfortunately that is not true. We are having a small crisis because of a gas shortage in the area. It caught me completely unaware. On Wednesday, I made an unnecessary trip to get out of the house, drove to a store that was farther away than the one I normally go to, and I wasn't successful in purchasing what I had intended to buy because of a couple of grumpy boys. I made a wrong turn and ended up taking the long way home, burning extra fuel. When I got home, the tank was nearly empty but I didn't give it a second thought. To my dismay, I learned of the shortage problem here...
