I have been staring at the awful bushes in our front yard for too long and finally reached a breaking point. I think I also had a crisis with computers and decided that everything I do is sucked into a nebulous of nothing, so it was time to do something that is physically real. When my brother Matt mentioned that he was out of school for a semester trying to earn money and he had landscaping experience, it was time to take action and make something happen. We conscripted Matt to visit us for a fun and landscaping trip (which became more landscaping, less fun) and we got to work tearing apart the yard, bringing in tons of dirt and rock, and trying to reshape our little vista. I had a great time working with my brother and I'm so glad he came to help! I moved out of the house when he was still a kid and it was so fun to spend time with him and get to know him as an adult. I'm so proud of who he is and who he is becoming. He is a great uncle and the boys had a great time hanging o...

Chris and I escaped for a night and left the boys to hang out with Grandma. We had a great time wandering around SLC late at night and pretending like we didn't have kids for a little bit. The boys had a great time hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa and pretending like they didn't have parents. 

We convinced Mr. Baseball to give soccer a try and so far it has been a lot of fun! Davin is a little behind in understanding the game but he is improving every game and having a good time as well. Chris and I both love soccer and it is so fun to watch him play.  Uncle Matt and Violet cheered Davin at one of his games.

This year's back to school was so easy! Both boys had the same teachers and the same classrooms. It was like we just took a break for a couple of months and then started the same schedule again. I loved it! The boys both have fantastic teachers and classes, and I'm so grateful for the experiences they are having. We love Mrs. G, Rowan's teacher, and he was excited to go back to school. He started off the year with only having one classmate, but now there are four kids in the class. He is so spoiled at school and loves going! Rowan's language has really improved this year; he is also reading and knows most of his additional tables. A very sleepy but excited Rowan!

Davin and I have been busy growing at school. Davin is working on reading and math, and I'm proud of his efforts. I was asked to chair the Green Team committee for our school's PTA; the Green Team is in charge of helping the school be more "green" and teaching students about sustainable living. This year we decided to plant vegetable gardens with the kindergarten and first grades. I loved teaching the students about growing seeds and we had a fun time planting and watching the plants grow. 

After our lengthy travels, we came back just in time for school to start again. Davin started first grade in Mrs. Ireland's class. She was his kindergarten teacher too, so it was nice to start back where we left off, instead of having to figure out a new teacher and a new class (the kids are all the same too). Rowan and Davin's friendship really increased this summer and I think Rowan missed seeing his brother all day. They are such good buddies! 

We were honored to attend Violet's blessing. She is so beautiful!
