The week in Austin started out beautifully. The weather on Monday was lovely and we found a great park where the boys could play. Chris and I escaped that night for a night away while the boys had fun going to a pizza place with Grandma and Grandpa as well as enjoying a movie night and throwing socks at Grandpa from their balcony. The nice weather didn't last, however. Chris had a hotel in downtown Austin as part of his business trip, and the boys and I stayed with him for two nights. Fortunately there was a great indoor pool that we had virtually to ourselves, so we spent most of our time there.  We hoped to spend more time with Grandma Rees during our stay but after enjoying dinner at Kerbey Lane Cafe, she had a bad reaction to the food and spent two days in bed. We were so sad Grandma was sick!  Despite the cool pancakes, we may have had our last meal at Kerbey Lane! We did check out the free night at the Aust...

Chris had a business conference in Austin with coincided with the boys' spring break week, so we decided it would be a great opportunity to visit family and take a spring break trip. As we were spending Easter in Austin, I was feeling a little disconnected with doing our own traditions at home but Davin informed me that it wouldn't be Easter without an egg hunt and egg dying. Before leaving we took care of the form by having a fun Easter Egg hunt with some friends in Charlotte. We boarded a plane early Saturday morning and arrived in Austin in time for the boys and Chris to join Grandpa Rees at a Texas-style teachers' social. Davin got to shoot a few bb guns and watch the adults shoot rifles, and everyone enjoyed some BBQ. On Sunday, the boys awoke to a fun surprise: Grandpa Rees dressed like the Easter Bunny and they found their baskets filled with surprises. We had some exciting news to share with our boys: they were going to welcome a new sibling in October! At first, Davin wasn't super excited. He isn't a huge fan of babies because they can be a little noisy. Rowan wasn't quite sure what we were talking about. However, once he understood, he was so excited! Davin's excitement definitely increased as well and he had a fun time telling his friends and teacher at school. We are so excited to welcome a new little one into our lives. It is a little crazy but we can't wait until October! Baby at 12 weeks!

The first grade at Sharon hosted a "Famous Americans" parade and Davin decided to be Abraham Lincoln. He looked great as the tall president with a tall hat! His teacher shared a Youtube video about a girl who had to dress up like Martin Van Buren for a school event (and I was so glad that he didn't pick this president!).

I spent Valentine's Day with the greatest guy! Chris took me to lunch and  Les Miserables. It was amazing (and I enjoyed the show too)! The boys came home from school with a sweet haul and then had some fun packages from grandmas to open as well. We finished the evening with a heart pizza!

We had the honor of having Elder Nelson visit Charlotte and speak at our stake conference. My friend, Heather (who is also our stake publicist) asked if I would take some pictures of Elder Nelson. It was wonderful to meet him in person! We really enjoyed his talks, particularly when he had all of the children in the audience stand and sing "I am a Child of God." 

Davin invited Chris and I to his "Hall of Wonder" display where he showed us all the amazing things he learned about in science and astronomy. Davin particularly enjoyed tracing his shoe for their wall.
