Off to school!

Rowan's first day Davin started second grade this year and is in Ms. Schellhorn's class while Rowan started kindergarten with Ms. Russell. This year is momentous in that both Davin and Rowan are now going to the same school together. Rowan was attending pre-school at an elementary school through the CMS system and his hours were similar to a kindergarten class (5 days a week, 7:45-2:45 every day) so in some ways, going all day to kindergarten wasn't a huge change. He was a little trepidatious about going to Davin's school and expressed some concern about it over the summer (he would often say "I'm only five years old Mom!" as if to imply he wasn't quite big enough for Davin's school). When the big day finally came, Rowan was ready to go. The boys have had a fun time riding the bus together and seeing each other at lunch time.   Davin's first day; he started a few days before Rowan because of kindergarten's staggered entry. ...

Beach photo shoot

I had great ambitions for doing a beach photo shoot; it was a little crazy with the wind and a broken lens but we still managed to catch a few smiles.

Playing at the beach!

Even though it was a little stormy, we had a great time playing at the beach.

Cypress Gardens

One of our favorite adventures in the Charleston area was our visit to Cypress Gardens. The gardens, aside from lovely landscaping, included a butterfly house and a reptile house. For Davin, our alligator and crocodile fan, it was a great adventure. Jeremy designed awesome t-shirts and we all wore them to the gardens.  The Cypress Gardens have their name for a reason. At the heart of the gardens are magnificent cypress trees; the trees are one of the few that can live in water and these trees live in an amazing swamp. There is a marked "path" through the swamp and guests can take boats through the swamp, under bridges, and even near alligators!  We had a wonderful time visiting the Cypress Gardens!
