Davin went through a major Diary of a Wimpy Kid series fascination this spring. Frankly it was a miracle because we wondered if Davin would ever make the leap to longer fiction and Greg Heffley and the Heffley family helped him get there. For the annual school Storytelling Festival, the kids could wear a costume to school to represent their favorite character and Davin went to school with some DoaWK style (with the help of Chris's sketching talent): Rowan decided that if there was a day where he could use an excuse to wear the ninja costume again, this was the day. Apparently Ellie is a Harry Potter fan! So precocious! 

Spoiler alert: This post is going to be sappy.  I'm pretty lucky! I have three amazing kids and an even more amazing husband. Admittedly I wasn't how the whole motherhood thing was going to work for me and now I can safely say that the relationships that I have with my husband and children is an unexpected richness that makes everything else seem rather pathetic in comparison.  It was fun to get a little back on Mother's Day. The boys brought me some lovely roses with their own hard earned dollars and Chris made some elegant crepes made with coconut milk (Ellie and I are currently on a no dairy no soy diet).  Chris made me dinner and let me take a nap. Sweet!  Davin invited me to his class where he read a poem that he wrote for me. He read it to his class. Need I say more? 

I know that I have posted several times with pictures of my kids swinging in the backyard. Unfortunately I'm not bored of taking pictures of them swinging (particularly now that we added a new swing just for Miss Ellie!). There isn't much explanation to these pics except that we blissfully enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the backyard swinging and other such mischief.

Davin and Rowan had a great time playing soccer this spring. They were both ecstatic about their team colors, loved getting the team snack at the end of the game, and seemed to enjoy kicking the ball around as well. While there were times when the idea of the sport rather than actually playing it seemed more appealing (at least in Rowan's case) overall they seemed to have a positive experience and it is likely we will find ourselves yet again on the soccer field cheering with enthusiasm.
