We are doting parents, there is no doubt. Bear with us as we bore you with a list of things that Davin says and does that make us smile.
- Davin is acquiring a good vocabulary of food words and we can tell when he is hungry as he starts to rattle them off. Some favorites include: hamburger, corn dog (two foods we don't eat very often but he seems to like saying them), strawberries, strawberry jam, birthday cake, and pickles.
- Lately he has become very proud of his tummy and pulls up his shirt to show us how he can push his own button. He loves pushing buttons and was excited to find out that he in fact had a button of his own.
- It is a good thing he is only two or we would be a little worried about his vanity. He is constantly referring to himself as "handsome" and will walk around the house saying "yay Davin!"
- Some of our favorite phrases include: "How's it going?" "How's your day?" "'Sup dudes?" "Oh dear!" and a most dramatic "Oh no! Happened?"
- He is starting to learn little songs, like "Ring around the roses", which usually includes him saying "ashes, ashes, fall down", with a dramatic fall at the end. One night "Twinkle Twinkle" turned into "Pickle Pickle."
- We are starting to see ourselves in a whole new light living with our little parrot. Davin will start doing something naughty and then get after himself by saying "Davin!" He will yell around the house "Chris!" or "Katie!" (I didn't think that we called each other that much, but I guess we do.) One day, while we were driving around in Texas, we passed a Hooters restaurant and we started joking about it. Davin piped up in the back with "Hooters!" and he has been saying it ever since.
- We can't help but beam with pride when Davin tells a stranger "Thank you much!" We must be doing something right.
- Davin got a toy lawn mower for his birthday from his Grandma and Grandpa Stevenson. He liked pushing it around because it makes noise and bubbles, but the light bulb went on this weekend as to its true purpose. Chris brought out his big mower to tackle our big lawn. As he pushed it up and down the rows of grass, Davin followed behind with his little mower, mimicking the same motions and following Chris's trail. We hope to have him using a real mower by age three.
