Rowan decided that he wanted to put his soccer career on hold and try baseball for as season. On the first day they held a "tryout" to assess the kids' skills so that they could create balanced teams. It had been awhile since he played baseball and the results were a little rough. He was really discouraged and I was ready to pull him out. Fortunately Chris stepped in and worked with him on his skills, helping to boost Rowan's confidence. Rowan had a wonderful season and really enjoyed playing baseball. His skills improved tremendously and we were so proud of his effort. It is really amazing to watch him navigate situations that would be potentially frustrating. He had trouble wearing his cochlear implant processors on his ears while wearing the batting helmet so he took them off while he was batting which meant that he had zero sound. He did a great job picking up on the instructions from his coach, knowing when he needed to run, and making his way back home. He didn't hear us cheering when he hit the ball but we cheered the loudest for him. We can't wait to watch his next season!
